Norwegian biathlete Vetle Shostad Kristiansen told how Norway's shooting coach Siegfried Maze held a training session with him, simulating a duel with French finisher Emilien Jakelen at the final stage of the relay.

“He stood at the first installation about half a meter from my face. Holding the stopwatch, he gave me a signal as Jacquelin fired his shots so that I would be ready to face him at a potential last ward, avoiding the shock of his rate of fire.

I can’t control Jacquelin, but I’m ready anyway.

Siegfried lost his temper a little when I tried to keep up Jacquelin's pace. He said that I should think of myself and lower my blinders over my eyes. I was even slightly frightened by a 45-year-old Frenchman screaming in my ear from half a meter.

I did a few test races myself. I am ready, as far as possible, without performing at the World Cup. I am healthy in mind and body and I was preparing only for the relay, so I have strength.

At the same time, you never know what the form is when you enter your first race, ”said Shostad Christiansen.
