Bhopal: Narmada Jayanti is being celebrated all over Madhya Pradesh today. The Narmada River has a special significance in the culture of the country and Madhya Pradesh. The Narmada River is associated with the faith of the people of Madhya Pradesh. According to Hindu Panchang, Saptami of Shukla Paksha of Magh month is celebrated. This time Saptami fell on 19 February, hence Narmada Jayanti is being celebrated on 19 February. Every year a big event takes place on the Narmada Jayanti at Amarkantak, the place of origin of Narmada.

Narmada Pujan Vidhi can be performed on Narmada Jayanti from sunrise to the middle of sunset. After bathing in the morning, mother Narmada should be worshiped with flowers, akshat, kumkum, incense, etc. on the banks of Narmada. All the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled by burning 11 lamps of flour in Narmada River and making the water flow.

In Hinduism, the auspicious time of bathing is considered to be the same as that of the river Narmada. The Saptami of Shukla Paksha of Magh month is starting from 18 February this time, which will remain till 19 February 10:59.

In such a situation, it is considered auspicious for bathing from Brahma Muhurt in the morning to 10:59 in the morning. Taking a bath during this period gives special merit. According to the scriptures, on the seventh day of Shukla Paksha of Magh month, Goddess Narmada was incarnated from Lord Shankar.
