According to the forecast of the meteorological office, at night the air temperature can drop to -15, -20 degrees, during the day the air temperature will fluctuate from -10 to -17.

The day before, Scientific Director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand at a briefing warned: "Heavy snowfall for a long period is a very dangerous situation that will lead to a collapse of traffic in Moscow." According to him, "the relevant warnings have already been issued."

Vilfand, clarified that due to heavy snow, the height of the snow cover in Moscow will increase by 30 cm, at the moment in different districts of the capital it is up to 40 cm. He also said that a steady cooling is predicted in Moscow next week, which is due to transfer of cold masses from the north and from the northeast.

Vilfand also believes that "there is no need to wait for early spring in Moscow." “Before the end of March - the beginning of April, there is no need to wait for spring, and it will not be fast, since a lot of heat is needed to melt all the snow,” he said, "Recently, scientists have put forward the theory that ancient people could hibernate to survive the cold winters."
